Evermore
The Immortals
Alyson Noel

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch. Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste . . .

Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition. He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets. Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is. Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

After reading this series, which consist of three books so far with at least one more I know of on the way. I was very pleased, The Immortals is a love story, a sad one, a sweet one, and one that Alyson Noel did a great job writing. I would definitely recommend this to my friends, and to the tween and teenage children of my friends, as sadly I'm technically no longer classified in the ' young adult' genre.

Beautiful Creatures
Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

There were no surprises in GatlinCounty.

We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

I adored reading beautiful Creatures, it was set down south, my home, it was in a small town full of shallow small minded people, like most small towns.. no offense if you are from a small town, but in my experience, most small town ppl are exactly like they are portrayed in this book. Anywho. Ethan sets himself apart, even though it means total social suicide, and he welcomes Lena with open arms, and an open heart no matter what may come of it, ahhh pure love. I love it. I have already recommended this book to friends and I will continue to do so, and I am readily awaiting Beautiful Darkness this October.

Shiver
Maggie Stiefvater

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human... until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Shiver was GREAT, I loved it because it was right up my paranormal alley, yet it wasn't about vamps, it was all werewolves. Not the yucky, slobbery, drooly weres that you hear about in vamp books, but cute and cuddly, transforming werewolves that fall in love and want to be loved in return. This was such a sad, story of teenage angst, but such a sweet story of literal puppy love. I would definitely recommend my tween and teenage friends read it... oh and look for the second book coming out soon Linger.

Marked
House of Night
Kristen and P.C. Cast

HOUSE OF NIGHT is a thrilling, New York Times bestselling book series that follows 16-year-old Zoey Redbird as she is “Marked” by a vampyre tracker and begins to undergo the “Change” into an actual vampyre. She has to leave her family in Broken Arrow, OK, and move into the House of Night, a boarding school for other fledgling vampyres like her.

It’s tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx. Although Zoey has awesome new powers, it’s hard to fit in when everyone knows you’re “special.” As Zoey tries to make new friends and maybe find a hot boyfriend (or two), she comes up against all kinds of evil, from the perfect-looking, super-popular girl with not-so-faultless plans, to the mysterious deaths happening at the House of Night and all over Tulsa. Things at the House of Night are not always what they seem. Can Zoey find the courage deep within herself to find the truth and embrace her destiny?

House of Night got me good, I was reading these books faster than I was breathing, they were life to me while I was in them. The lives in them were amazing, Zoey, Stevie Rae, Aphrodite, Stark, Heath, oh how they made my head swim, and after I read Tempted and had to WAIT for burned to be released, I felt like I was going to burn up inside. It was pure cruelty. However I managed and managed well, Burned was released and now I am waiting again for the next book Awakened, which we haven't got a date on yet, but I am sure won't be too awful long. The only complaint I have about this series is I had some very ideal thoughts of how these characters looked in my mind, and after reading through the whole series, they were set just that way, but then I visited the official HoN website and saw the book trailers they have, and I was more than a little disappointed, in my opinion they utterly ruined my facade of what the characters were and should be. however that is my own opinion. :) These books I would definitely recommend to everyone.

Twilight
The Twilight Saga
Stephanie Meyer

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife-between desire and danger.

After reading the Twilight Saga, I had a new found respect for love. Being a married woman, and a happily married woman at that, I just couldn't resist the passion and need that Bella and Edward had for each other, oh how wonderful to be able to feel that. I have a very modern marriage, where we work and we pay bills, we have kids, so we do family stuff. But we rarely have that time together that gets to amount to the passion that was between these pages, even if it was only insinuated passion, and I do give kudos to Stephanie Meyers for keeping it ' clean '. That was very tactful indeed. After reading these books, and seeing the frenzy they have caused, just knowing that I love them just as much as the next person should be all I need to say in this blog, but of course me, who is one of many words, as my husband likes to say, had to write more. I adored the books. I ranted and raved over the first movie. I couldn't believe how amazing how wonderful the second movie was, especially since it was my fav. book. I have not even begun to stop recommending this book to anyone I come across who has yet to read it. However few and far between they are :)

The Forest of Hands and Teeth
Carrie Ryan

Zombies, a strict culture, and star-crossed love combine to create a gripping read in The Forest of Hands and Teeth. Generations ago, a horrible plague destroyed the cities, creating roving gangs of zombies, the Unconsecrated, that threaten everyone. Mary lives in a small, fenced-in village, protected from the "forest of hands and teeth" that await anyone who leaves. All are under the strict control of the Sisterhood, and Mary is alone in her curiosity about why the Unconsecrated exist, and what life was really like before. On joining the Sisterhood, she begins a journey of exploration that leads to a pulse-pounding conclusion.

This book was great, kind of after the apocalypse type deal, with zombies attached. Right there with the rest of the paranormal, but this time has zombies, you don't see too much of that, but when you do it usually comes off as crap, but not this one, this one rocked. I loved the Belief she has, the total conviction that her mother was NOT wrong, and that should would escape, and the fact that she did despite the pain that came with it, was more than I could have hoped for in an ending. Definitely check this book out and don't stop here, make sure you catch the companion as well The Dead-Tossed Waves. It's just as good, actually it's better!!!

The Tryelle Trilogy
Amanda Hocking

These three books were awesome, I loved reading every page in them. They are of course paranormal, BUT they aren't about vampires, werewolves, fairies.. or anything else you would imagine. They are about TROLLS, and they are great. These trolls aren't teh typical billy goat gruff trolls, unless you coulnt some of the Vittra, they are beautiful and magestic.

Wendy is a changling, but she doesn't know this, the only person who ever figured it out was her mother. But they locked her up in a crazy house because she was crazy, I mean changlings don't exsist.. right? After things start to take a turn for the bizarre, and Wendy is forced to grow up in ways she never imagined possible, her world turns upside down and then flips back again. Only she can save what is left of her crazy life and all those she loves.

I recommend this book to all my fans of paranormal fiction. it is an incredible series!!!

The Faeriewalker series
Jenna Black

This was another great couple of books, the next one comes out sometime this year, which is exciting for me, and any of you who love to read series.

Avalon is real, and it is the only place on Earth where Faerie and Earth coincide, both the humans and the Fey live here in relative harmony. But after Dana has had enough of living with her mother she decided that she is going to leave the strictly human world and travel to Avalon to meet her father for the first time.

She knows he is a high official, but she has no idea how high up the food chain he really is. Being half Fey makes her somewhat of a wonder since the Fey and Humans don't often breed together. She is targeted form the moment she steps foot into Avalon, and it doesn't stop with day one. Having to defend herself and her heart over and over again makes Dana realize all she left behind and makes her wonder what it was she was really searching for to begin with.

Wonderful series!! I recommend it to all my YA fans!!

The Iron Fey
Julie Kagawa

This series starts off with The Iron King, a great read, and it only gets better from there, with the summer court and the winter courts hating each other. An entirely new set of Fey being born into the mix ( the Iron Fey ) and a girl who is blood related to them all except the one she can't help but love but is forbidden from.

With no other than Puck himself leading a very humorous adventure and the perils of the dark sides of Faerie coming out and about at every twist and turn, I was biting my nails the entire time reading this series.. The Iron Queen has just been released and The Iron Knight is up next. I have no doubt that these books are as wonderful as the first two and i am barely able to contain myself long enough to even write this without rushing to the store to pick up this next installment.

If you love Faeries, you will love what Julie has in store for you!! Recommended to all YA fans :)
